Xinzuo 4.1" Ji Petty Knife
A tiny Damascus petty with a fitted wooden sheath — detail work in the same finish as the flagship Ji knives.
Pros
- +104 mm blade is ideal for peeling, coring, and in-hand garnish work
- +12Cr18MoV core at HRC 60±2 keeps a sharp edge despite the small size
- +Includes a wooden sheath for safe drawer or bag storage
- +Damascus pattern and ebony handle match the full Ji line
Cons
- −Too small for board work beyond a single shallot or garlic clove
- −Sheath adds bulk if you store knives on a magnetic strip
- −$57 is a premium for a paring-sized knife

Design
This is the smallest Ji-series blade: a 104 mm petty profile clad in 67 layers of Damascus over a 12Cr18MoV core. It ships with a fitted wooden sheath that protects both the edge and your fingers when the knife is tossed in a drawer or travel kit.
Edge retention
The same 12Cr18MoV core used in the larger Ji knives means this little blade takes a keen edge and holds it through normal detail work. Because the jobs it does are light, it can go weeks between touch-ups.
Ergonomics
The handle is scaled to match the blade, so it still feels balanced rather than handle-heavy. It is comfortable in a pinch grip for board work and secure in hand for peeling or paring. The sheath slides on smoothly and stays put.
Value
$57.24 is a lot for a paring knife, but it is competitive for a Damascus-clad petty with a wood handle and a matching sheath. Buy it after you already own a Ji chef knife or bunka and want the set to look complete.
